On June 18, the National Energy Administration (NEA) released national power industry statistics for the first five months of the year. As of the end of May, the national installed power generation capacity reached 2.24 billion kilowatts, up 9.5% year-on-year. Among this, installed wind power capacity stood at 290 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 34.4%; installed solar power capacity reached 260 million kilowatts, up 24.7% year-on-year.
From January to May, the country's newly added grid-connected wind power capacity reached 7.79 million kilowatts, an increase of 2.89 million kilowatts year-on-year.
From January to May, the cumulative average utilization hours of power generation equipment nationwide reached 1,528 hours, an increase of 117 hours compared with the same period last year. Among this, nuclear power recorded 3,121 hours, up 254 hours year-on-year; wind power recorded 1,053 hours, up 96 hours year-on-year.
From January to May, investment completed in power supply projects by major power generation enterprises nationwide reached 139.2 billion yuan, up 8.8% year-on-year. Among this, hydropower investment reached 34.1 billion yuan, up 11.7% year-on-year; solar power investment reached 11.7 billion yuan, up 8.9% year-on-year. Investment completed in power grid projects reached 122.5 billion yuan, up 8% year-on-year.
